Jaunita is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) who serves clients out of the Menahga and Park Rapids offices. She graduated from MSUM with a Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice and holds a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University in Minneapolis MN. The Minnesota Board of Marriage and Family Therapy has approved Jaunita for Clinical Supervision. She specializes in working with couples, families, and individuals who desire emotional health, healing, and wholeness.
Jaunita is certified in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), a technique used to address the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and families suffering from the destructive effects of traumatic experiences. TF-CBT was developed to meet the unique problems of youth with post-traumatic stress and mood disorders that result from sexual and physical abuse, violence, or grief. Jaunita’s interests and experience extends from children to parents and includes certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is an evidence-based psychotherapy useful in treating mood disorders, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and changing behavioral patterns including substance use.
Jaunita feels blessed to be a mother of two adult children and six grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, painting, reading, boating, fishing, and relaxing at home with her two dogs.
