LCA Welcomes Mike Finn!
Lake Country Associates welcomes Michael T. M. Finn, PhD, LP to the Bemidji team of professionals. Mike is a Licensed Psychologist who conducts psychotherapy and psychological assessment primarily with adults.
He completed his doctoral training at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a research fellowship at Heidelberg University in Heidelberg, Germany, a predoctoral clinical internship at SUNY Upstate in Syracuse, NY, and further clinical and research training in health psychology at the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters in clinical psychology.
Mike is primarily a generalist by training. However, there are a few areas where he has specialized experience:
- Health psychology: the management of pain, chronic illness, and medically unexplained symptoms; psychological factors in physical rehabilitation; peak performance;
- Personality: persistent relationship problems, and difficulty with self-regulation/identity;
- Trauma: PTSD and complex developmental trauma.
Mike warmly collaborates with individuals to help them move toward their goals in transformative and sustainable ways, while integrating cutting-edge measurement to enhance their work together. His approach to psychotherapy aims to both relieve suffering and to promote growth during and beyond psychotherapy. He is experienced in clinical hypnosis, which can be helpful for relaxation and pain relief.
Mike will be based out of our Bemidji office beginning mid-May and will take referrals on a case-by-case basis.
